As a Utah brand photographer, the first step I made was to build up my portfolio. This brand photography content day was born when I saw that several photographers in my area were switching over to brand photography, but were struggling to get their portfolio built up. I love meeting new photography friends and working with brands, so this seemed like a win-win!
I reached out to several brands about participating, and we ended up with five brands and 14 models! It was the craziest day – but definitely the best kind of crazy!
We met at The Stratford Studio in downtown Logan Utah for this jam-packed content day. The first hour of our shoot was filled with flat lays galore! The photographers who signed up had full access to all of the flat lay materials and props in the studio to style and shoot the products before the models arrived. It was so much fun seeing everyone style the same product in different ways. I’m so inspired by other photographers and it is always so much fun when I get to watch others work their magic.
The second hour was a little bonkers! I tried my best to schedule the models in a way that would make it easy for the photographers to rotate between models and product, but it didn’t end up happening that way. All of us photographers were running around the studio from model to model. I was also organizing models and telling them what to wear next. I’ve learned a TON from setting up this content day, and I have several ideas to make next time run more smoothly. I’m thinking that next time, less will be more!
We shot clothing products on models ranging from 6 months old up to grown women. We had some of the cutest kids in the studio for this shoot. They were comfortable in front of the camera and took having six photographers in their faces like champs.
Being a Utah brand photographer is the best job I can imagine having. I get to meet new friends, play with cute kids, and style the most adorable products.
