What to wear for your engagement session to make the most of your photos.
Who doesn’t want to look good in a photo? Especially in a photo that you’ll be sending to all of your family and friends! We do our best to help you feel comfortable in front of our camera, but wearing the right outfits for you will make all the difference. Here are some tried and true tips for choosing what to wear for your engagement session.
1. Choose neutral colors, with perhaps one pop of color. Try to stay away from bright, neon colors or anything with logos or graphics. Floral prints and other patterns are okay, as long as there aren’t too many.
2. Make sure you’re comfy! We move around a LOT during engagement sessions, and will probably ask you to sit or lay down if the location permits. We LOVE flowy dresses because they are so flattering and create fun movement opportunities in your photos.
3. Make it you! We’ve had couples dress up all fancy because they LOVE to get all dolled up, and we’ve had couples wear comfy casual outfits because it fit their personalities best. If you want a little of both, feel free to bring two different outfits to change halfway between your session. Just keep in mind that your engagement session is just an hour long, and the time it takes to change will take away a few minutes of photo-taking time.
4. Consider the season. Bundling up in the winter and playing in the snow makes for super cute photos! And light, flowy dresses are perfect for late spring and summer. With the weather in Utah being so unpredictable, we suggest to plan basic outfits, and then come prepared with cute coordinating layers like cardigans or nice jackets just in case it’s a little chilly.
5. Empty those pockets! For real – you don’t want keys or phones showing in your pockets. We’re happy to hold onto your items while we’re taking your photos.
